Recently, a few German newspapers and London's Guardian newspaper indicated that Paul Wolfowitz suggested that oil was the reason the US attacked Iraq. According to a transcript released by the Department of Defense, Wolfowitz said the difference between Iraq and North Korea was that Iraq "floats on a sea of oil," leaving the US few economic options. If Wolfowitz hadn't
been actively advocating an attack on Iraq since 1998, or if he worked
in the State Department, rather than in the Department of Defense, he
could make this distinction more convincingly. The Guardian printed a
